logo Steak with Apricot Relish

serves 4

  • 4 pieces of your favourite cut of steak
  • 1 lb fresh apricots - pitted, quartered
  • 3/4 cup sweet red onion -- chopped
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon five-spice powder

Combine all ingredients except steak in a medium saucepan.
Trim excess fat from steak and fry or grill the way you like it.
While the steak is cooking, bring the other ingredients to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for five minutes, stirring constantly.
Slice steak across the grain into thin slices.
Pour apricot relish over steak slices and serve.
