"OUR ORCHARD IS OUR HOME"
|
| The Harringon Family |
| The Harrington family own and run Kelston Orchard Packhouse.
Although the family are no longer growers of summerfruit, they have
joined the Hawke's Bay Clean group because they believe in the
philosophy and enjoy packing the high quality fruit produced by the group. We growers believe they are the best packhouse in the Bay! |
|
| The Vesty Family |
Our family has been orcharding for approximately 40 years.
After travelling overseas in 1984/85, I came home and managed our
family business. I married Pauline and we bought a block of our own.
We now have three children aged 6, 8 and 12.
Our orchards are on the
edge of Hastings and we grow Apricots, Plums, Peaches, Nectarines, Apples
and Pears. We also run a small deer farm and the deer love eating the
reject fruit from the packhouse.
We are committed to the Hawke's Bay Clean marketing group and enjoy
growing 'clean and sweet' fruit. We hope the customer will also
enjoy the eating experience! |

Growers
Bruce and Diana Ellingham and family are born and bred
in the country, and now are growing grapes and fruit in Hawke's Bay.
Their Ohiti Road block has 10 acres of fully certified organic apples
and 30 acres of IFP grapes.
Their York lease orchard has 5 acres of fully certified organic Granny Smith
and Red Delicious apples. It was one of the first two fully certified
(Bio-Gro) apple orchards in Hawke's Bay
At Irongate Road on their 40 acre orchard they have apples, pears and Summergreen fruit that are also fully organic.
Bruce and Diana are growing all their fruit organically, and while summerfruit is a challenge, they are strong in their conviction to grow it all organic.
The rainfall in Hawke's Bay around harvest time puts extreme disease
pressure on organic stonefruit, so at this stage IFP methods are the
best way to ensure the highest quality of fruit can be delivered to
the market without the traditional heavy use of pesticides. We
trust you enjoy the fruits of our labours

| The Stout Family |
|
Rob and Robin Stout write: We have been orcharding for twenty years and live on one of
our blocks. We have three boys who have been raised here.
We all love the lifestyle of living off the land and having the space, freedom
and proximity to nature that it affords. We grow apples, pears and nectarines
commercially, and our own vegetables. We love to eat good food, and strive to
produce fruit of top quality with great flavour.
We are passionate about using the best of today's technologies to produce
great fruit and preserve and enhance the raw elements (land, air, water) for
tomorrow's generations.

| Davis Orchards |
|
Michael Davis writes: I have been involved in
Horticulture in Hawke's Bay for many years and have recently bought
28 acres of orchard in Hastings, consisting of a mixture of stone and
pipfruit.
It is a pleasure for me to be involved in the Hawke's Bay Clean marketing group.
It is our aim to provide clean, top quality product to meet consumer demands. We
operate under IFP and Vegfed to maximise crop control without filling the atmosphere
with undesirable chemicals. We find, being a smaller group with selected
growers, we have better control to allow us to supply quality fruit to
the market place.
New Zealand has a clean green image, and we are focussed on keeping it that way.
